In the second week of February, San Miguel de Allende will shine with a presentation of Mozart’s opera “Così Fan Tutte,” produced by ProMusica de San Miguel and Ópera Insurgente.

Filled with wonderful arias, duets, quartets, and sextets, this comedy of entanglements and surprises tells the story of two young men, Ferrando and Guglielmo, engaged to the beautiful sisters Dorabella and Fiordiligi, respectively, and their cynical friend Don Alfonso, who assures them that if they were absent, their girlfriends would be unfaithful, and he convinces them to carry out a cruel plan: They will tell them that they are going to war and they will disguise themselves as handsome foreigners to woo each other’s sister, to prove their fidelity. The sisters’ maid, Despina, joins the plan. The bet is done. As expected, confusion and humorous situations abound, while the protagonists reflect on love and relationships.

This production has the participation of magnificent young singers, experienced interpreters, and creators with solid careers of international stature, some names already known and appreciated in San Miguel.

The young sopranos Jacinta Barbachano and Akemi Endo show off their extraordinary voices and acting talent as the sisters, the tenor Edgar Villalba and the baritone Edgar Gil as the fiancés, as well as the soprano Diana Rojas as Despina, accompanied by one of the best baritones from Mexico, the wonderful Jesús Suaste. The multifaceted Mexican tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo, recognized and loved in San Miguel, once again assumes the artistic and scenic direction of the show, with his moving style and sharp sense of humor. Conducting the Eduardo Mata orchestra of the UNAM, will be the renowned maestro Gustavo Rivero Weber. As it has for the past 12 years, the executive production is carried out by the Ópera Insurgente company under the baton of Carolina Vidal, who also assists with the stage direction. The opera is produced by the ProMusica association of San Miguel and its visionary president, Michael Pearl. Together, they will take us on a fun and moving journey through some of the most beautiful music ever written. Something worth seeing and listening to!

This opera promises to make you fall in love and have a fun time. The performances will be in San Miguel de Allende, at the Teatro Angela Peralta, next Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th of February, at 5pm.
