More and more of us prefer to enjoy craft beers made in small factories in a traditional way.

It is surprising to see how the consumption of craft beers has increased in recent years, but why? For many it is simply fashion, but there is a real effort to achieve high-quality beers that can compete with the more commonly known big brands. In fact, the market for craft beers has grown so much that they are beginning to position themselves among the first options when choosing what to drink.

What is the difference between commercial and craft beer?

It basically comes down to the use of ingredients—barley, wheat, malt, hops, and spices are what make the personality of a good beer. What differentiates craft beers from commercial ones, in addition to their quality and price, is that they are produced on a small scale, and their preparation is based on organic ingredients. That means no added chemicals in the process and the various techniques used, leaving creativity, recipes, and different styles.

In San Miguel de Allende we have several places that make incredible beers:

1. Cervecería Dos Aves: Founded in 2012, produces a variety of beers that can be found in various restaurants.

2. Cervecería Hechizera: Exclusive to the Mamma Mia restaurant, a treat for the palate, perfect to pair with pizzas and pastas.

3. Cervecería Allende: The name itself makes it the emblematic beer of San Miguel. You can find more and more of it in different states of the country.

4. FREAK beers: These have become a favorite among connoisseurs of good beers in San Miguel. Several have very peculiar names, and you can find them at the MezcalArt restaurant.

5. Hercules Brewery Bar: This beer is not produced in San Miguel, but we can enjoy it the bar of the SOMA District.

Salud!
