French Doors is a start-up art consulting company in San Miguel de Allende the brainchild of professional arts consultant Victoire Sidhoum. The intent of the project is to become a staple in the local art scene providing consulting services to galleries, artists, and buyers, as well as information to the general public on all things art-related in San Miguel.
“We are developing a network that will allow us to promote the most significant art available in San Miguel de Allende and beyond to the residents of our beautiful city as well as to short-term and long-term visitors,” said Sidhoum. “Our primary focus is increasing the visibility of our city’s top emerging and established artists and galleries, while providing art buyers with a platform to help them make art acquisition decisions.”
French Doors offers a variety of activities including private dinners with influencers from the local art scene; art walks led by licensed tour guides; gallery nights (where galleries extend their hours on opening nights for new shows); artist workshops (visits to the studio in which the artists explain their work, themes, and techniques); and a weekly newsletter with the art-related events of the week. French Doors will also maintain a San Miguel Art Map, available digitally via a QR code, as well as in hard copy in galleries and other cultural institutions.
Originally from Champagne, France, Sidhoum worked at the Marina Abramovich Institute in upstate New York before managing several galleries on the East Coast of the U.S. She later opened and served as director of the Brussels branch of Galerie La Forest Divonne one of the oldest and most prestigious art galleries in Paris.
Accompanying her at French Doors is Karl-Emmanuel Singer a conservation and logistics specialist with six years of experience handling works of art.
